Kwan Yin Dragon Pearl Hand Mala (27 Bead)

The Guru Bead

  • Our Kwan Yin Hand Mala has been created to represent this Bodhisattva's dedication to loving-kindness, compassion and wisdom. From the Heart Chakra, the cleansing energy of these beautiful cultured freshwater pearls are hand-tied on white natural silk, flowing to a carved white Bodhi Seed Dragon Head Guru Bead. Just as Kwan Yin is often depicted with pearls of illumination in hand while riding a wild dragon, our Hand Mala is a physical and energetic representation of her pure loving compassion. From the dragon's mouth coils a hand-tied 21 stitch braided knot, shared with 8 white pearls, splitting into two cords, each capped with a sterling silver bead featuring Kwan Yin (Avalokitesvara)’s Wisdom Mantra, "Om Mani Padme Hum.”

Hand Malas are made with 27 beads, which is one quarter of a full 108 bead prayer mala. Meditating or reciting 4 full repetitions of the Hand Mala is the same as one full round of a 108 bead mala.

The mala arrives in our 100% recycled Chocolate Jewelry Box along with a beautiful padded Mala bag, handmade by dedicated Dharma Practitioners in Thailand.

  • Properties of Cultured Freshwater Pearls
Pearls form through a natural process of covering a foreign biologic (such as a grain of sand) that has entered the shell and is irritating the mollusk within. The mollusk coats the irritant in calcium carbonate (a calcite and aragonite mixture), known as nacre. With many repeated coatings, a beautiful pearl comes into being. Originating in Japan and then mastered off the coasts of China, cultured Pearls form when a human introduces a biologic to a mollusk. Most pearl colors are naturally occurring based on the type of mollusk and the water quality it resides in.

Primary Energetic Properties: Pearls have undergone centuries of energetic and Eastern Medicine uses with the primary focus being on the healing and the nurturing properties of the seaborn gem. Aligned with the Moon and ocean tides, the Pearl balances, cleanses and energizes the light-body of any living organism while strengthening feminine resolve and her focus. Pearls have long been utilized in banishing negative cognitions, moving unconscious struggles into consciousness and cleansing the aura of impurities.

Chakra: Depends on color and focus, most often associated with Heart

    Properties of Kwan Yin
Kwan Yin (Mahayana Buddhism), spelled Quan Yin in Korea, Japan and China, she is universally known and the Bodhisattva of Compassion and Wisdom, a being that pledged herself to remaining on the Earth plane to assist those in turmoil, instead of taking her right as a fully enlightened Buddha. She is believed to be the feminine aspect of Avalokitesvara, the Mahayana Buddha of Compassion and Wisdom, which many believe is incarnated as His Holiness The Dalai Lama. Kwan Yin shares the Wisdom Mantra with Avalokitesvara, “Om Mani Padme Hum.”

Primary Energetic Properties: Often depicted as carrying the Pearls of Illumination and taming the wild Dragon, Kwan Yin is absolute compassion, wisdom, loving-kindness and understanding. She illuminates the truth to bring an end to suffering for all beings, everywhere.

    Chakra: Heart

    Properties of the Dragon
Dragons are believed to be an ultimate totem of protection. Strength, stamina, presence and focus also tend to accompany these great energetic guardians. This totem creature bestows confidence, cuts to the truth of reality while supporting/strengthening the Root Chakra.
